How come my old applications on Treo 700wx don't work on Treo 800w?
Most of the Windows Mobile software were designed for the 320x240 screen resolution. We are not suprised that most of the software that are working on Treo 700wx won't work on the new Treo 800w.
Freewares for Treo 800w that are working
Since the lauch of Treo 800w in July 14th 2008, there has been a number of freewares made for the new Treo phone. One of my favorite is The core Pocket Media Playter for Treo 800w.The is a new version compared the one for Treo 700wx. 2 major improvements are it runs on the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 ROMS and it support the FLV format straight out of the CAB. Like the previous version, it supports VAI, Matroska, MP4, Ogg Media, ASF, and most importantly the FLV. The audio codecs supported by the Core Media Play includes Mpeg 1 Layer III, Ogg Vorbis, Musepack, Windows Media Audio,AC-3, ARM, Adpcm, uLaw. And video codecs that are compatable include DivX, XviD, MPEG4-SP, MPEG1, M-JPEG, and Windows Media Video. With these supported file types and codecs, the Core Pocket Media Player offers much more flexibility than the built-in Windows Mobile Media Playter, especially when playing flash files. The Core Player takes advantage of the latest 320x320 resolution that comes with the Treo 800w. Your movies and personal video collections will nicely fit on the pefectly retangle screen.
Voice Dialing Update 1.03 Released
This official update came from Palm. This software update will enhance the voice dialing over the Bluetooth connection which make hands-free calling even easier today. You can download the update either over the air or download to your pc and perform a sync with new software.
